ABOUT ME

You didn’t expect to be here.

Not in this season. Not carrying this weight while still working, caring for others, making decisions, and trying to keep showing up. And perhaps you are quietly searching for someone who understands what grief feels like from the inside out.

I am j.s. hill®, Certified Grief Educator, Grief Coach, and founder of Alright in the Mourning®—a place grounded in one belief I hold closely:  Grief is Natural. Normal. Necessary.®

I didn’t choose this service. Grief chose me.

When my mother died more than twenty years ago, the outside world saw someone still working, serving, mothering, partnering, and showing up. Inside, grief had taken me somewhere I did not understand—into deep sadness, numbness, and emotions I did not yet have words for.  Years later, while standing graveside with another grieving family, I looked into tear-filled faces and recognized something familiar. I quietly asked an Elder, “What happens to these families now?” He smiled and said, “I’m glad you asked.”

I did not know it then, but that question would become part of my calling.

My journey has taken me through experience, empathy, education, and service—from GriefShare Coordinator and Senior Grief Facilitator to Certified Grief Coach and Certified Grief Educator. Today, I help grieving people understand what may be happening within them, honor their emotions without shame, and recognize hope for the life that is still before them.  As a Grief Educator, I offer you understanding—because learning what grief is and why it affects us as it does can lessen some of the confusion surrounding the pain.  As a Grief Coach, I walk beside you. Not ahead of you running at a pace where you are not ready to maintain, and definitely not behind you only observing. I meet you where you are—present, listening, and unhurried.  I will not ask you to forget the person you love or pretend your loss did not change you.

Is there a part of you — even a small, quiet part — that wants to bring your loved one forward with you? Not by forgetting nor by letting go. But by learning to carry them into who you are becoming? Continuing your story with hope.

You survived getting  here.  Let's walk. Let's talk.

I believe you are more than able to go From Mourning to Life®.

When you are ready, I am here to walk beside you—one step, one breath, one day at a time.

Grief is: Natural - Normal - Necessary.®
